9/2/09 – Public Relations Client

Posted by normawoods on September 2, 2009

I will be working with the local Girl Scout troop in Swainsboro, Georgia.  This group has been inactive in our community for several years, but they are finally experiencing a resurgence of interest.  Any girl in kindergarten through twelfth grade is eligible to participate. They are seeking more scout leaders, if anyone is interested!  Volunteers are a critical part of this organization, especially as they rebuild the program.  I will be assisting them with their public relations communication efforts to increase membership, attract volunteers and publicize fundraising events and troop activities.  Although Girl Scouts was founded in Savannah, Georgia, it is now a world-wide organization with 3.4 millons members in 96 different countries. Go girls!

Greetings!  I am Norma Sumner Woods, a Public Relations practitioner.  I hope to use this blog in conjunction with Lisa Muller’s PR Writing class as a means of practicing and enhancing my communication skills in this ever-growing internet medium called “blogging.”

As I have learned through the years, communication is collaborative, not competitive, so hopefully, I will  receive meaningful feedback from other bloggers!

I am looking forward to the experience!
